Chief Operating Officer, President
Geoff Shorten joined WesternOne on February 19, 2008 in conjunction with WesternOne’s acquisition of Deerfoot Equipment Rentals located in Calgary, Alberta. Since 2008, he has increased WesternOne Rentals and Sales locations from 6 to 15 locations across BC and Alberta, and was instrumental in completing WesternOne Inc.’s acquisitions, including SureFire Propane Ltd., Davis Heater Service Ltd., Onsite Rentals and Britco. Geoff coordinated Britco’s expansion into Edmonton (Alberta), Waco (Texas) and Australia.
In July 2010, Geoff was appointed Chief Operating Officer, and in February 2013, he added the title of President to better reflect his strategic and operational role at WesternOne.
Carlos K.H. Yam
Chief Financial Officer
Carlos Yam joined WesternOne on October 1, 2007. He is a Chartered Accountant (British Columbia) and a Certified Public Accountant (Illinois). In 2003, he joined Intrawest ULC (formerly Intrawest Corp.) and from 2004 to 2007 was Director of Financial Planning with Intrawest Placemaking, the resort real estate development division. Prior to this, Carlos worked in the Financial Advisory Services Department of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Vancouver. His experience includes working with public companies and private businesses to perform acquisition, divestiture, refinancing, forensic and litigation support related services.
Stirling McArthur holds a Business Administration Degree specializing in Human Resources. He has over 17 years of HR and operational experience in the sector, and was part of the management team that grew Stephenson’s Rental Services to over 50 locations nationally, taking the company public in 2005. He joined WesternOne in 2011 as the Manager, Human Resources, later adding Safety & Service Quality to his portfolio. Stirling has now taken on the role of VP Heat, Power and Fuels.
Harold Griffin joined the WesternOne team in September 2014 as part of WesternOne’s acquisition of Enerbuilt Technologies. He is a Professional Mechanical Engineer with a background in design and management and has extensive experience in the oil & gas service sector, previously in the drilling and service rig sector with Precision Drilling for 15 years and the flameless heater service sector for 7 years. In these roles, Harold focused on product development and improvement as well as maximizing asset utilization for the operational team. He now supports the WesternOne team as Director of Engineering.
Director, Environment, Health, and Safety
Darrell Landon joined WesternOne in March of 2015. Darrell brings an 18 year award-winning track record for steering policies and programs that have measurably improved the safety performance and culture of companies he’s worked with. Aside from his formal Occupational Health and Safety training from BCIT, Darrell also holds his CRSP, CCEP, CHSC, NCSO and Gold Seal certifications.
A Certified General Accountant, Nicholas Ehizojie joined WesternOne in 2008, and is responsible for periodic financial reporting, internal controls design and monitoring, budgeting and all other aspects of finance and accounting. Nicholas holds a master’s degree in Industrial and Financial Economics from Gothenburg University (Sweden), and possesses over 10 years’ experience in finance and operational roles, including business consulting, public practice and operations analyses. Nicholas is on the Presidents’ and Deans’ honor rolls at Mount Royal University (Calgary) for outstanding academic achievement.
Director, Fuel Services
Starting as a service technician in the propane and gas industry 25 years ago, Joe Alexander grew his career into sales, management and co-ownership of Sure-Fire Propane Ltd. He joined the WesternOne team in October 2008, through acquisition, in the capacity of VP Operations for the Edmonton location. Joe now holds dual roles at WesternOne - Director, Fuel Services; and Regional Manager Heat, Power, and Fuel Services for Southern Alberta.
Regional Manager - Alberta Aerial
Almost 20 years ago, Darran Ford started out as a heavy-duty service technician in Scotland. He is a certified Heavy Duty Mechanic (Journeyman) and holds an HNC in Mechanical Engineering. Over the years Darran has broadened his career into management. He joined the WesternOne team in April 2009, through acquisition of On Site Equipment, in the capacity of Service Manager for the Calgary Aerial location. Shortly after the acquisition, Darran was promoted to Branch Manager of Calgary Aerial. As of May 2014 Darran enjoys the role of Area Manager for WesternOne's Alberta Aerial Division, looking after our Branches in Calgary, Lethbridge, Red Deer, and Edmonton.
